Frequently asked questions
Everything parents ask us before and after visiting New Birth Day Nursery.
Getting started
We take settling in at your child's pace, not ours. You are welcome to stay as long as you need during those first visits, and our team will work closely with you to build a picture of your little one's routines, comforts and quirks before they start. Most families find their child settles within a week or two, but we never rush this.
Pack a change of clothes, any comforters they cannot do without, and nappies or pull ups if needed. Everything else, including meals and sun cream, is provided by us. We will send you a checklist before your start date so nothing gets forgotten.
Daily life
Doors open at 7:30am for early arrivals, and the day flows between open ended play, small group activities, outdoor time and rest. Our educators, many of whom have backgrounds in music, art and theatre, weave creative exploration throughout the day rather than sticking to a rigid timetable. Children eat together at mealtimes, and the day winds down gently before collection at 6pm.
Our educators speak to parents at pick up and are always available for longer conversations if you need them. You are also welcome to drop in at any time. We use feedback sheets with our home learning bags so you can see what your child is enjoying and continue the learning at home.
These are bags of carefully chosen resources that children take home to explore with you, based on their current interests at nursery. Each bag includes a feedback sheet so you can tell us how it went, and we use your insights to shape what we plan next. It is one of the ways we keep learning flowing between home and nursery.
