“My daughter has been attending this daycare since she turned one. Although the settling-in period was a little challenging at first, the staff were patient, supportive, and genuinely caring. Thanks to their persistence, she now looks forward to going every day. We receive regular updates throughout the day, which is very reassuring. Most importantly, while some daycares we visited felt more business-focused, this one truly feels like a place where the children come first.”

A nursery with a real community feel in Mossford Green
Our space
Set within Holy Trinity Church, the Barkingside site has a warm, hall-based environment that feels genuinely community-rooted. Large, open rooms give children space to explore, and the familiar setting means many feel at home very quickly.
Outdoors
The church grounds give children direct access to outdoor space, used daily for play, exploration, and quieter activities. A more suburban setting than our other sites, with green space close at hand.
Why families choose us
A family nursery where creativity runs through everything
Plenty of nurseries talk about learning through play. We want to show you what it looks like when educators trained in music, art and theatre lead the day.
01Learning that follows the child, not the clock
We build provision around open-ended exploration, giving children the freedom to follow their curiosity rather than a rigid timetable. Our educators observe what sparks each child's interest and create opportunities from there. Progress happens naturally when children are genuinely engaged.
02Outside every single day, whatever the weather
Daily outdoor time is part of the rhythm here, not a reward for good weather. Children need fresh air, space to move, and the kind of learning that only happens when you can dig, climb and discover. Wellies and waterproofs are always a good idea.
03A family business, not a corporate chain
New Birth Day is family run, which means decisions are made by people who actually know the children, not a head office. Many of our educators have trained in music, art and theatre, bringing something extra to the rooms they work in every day.
Our 10-day calm start gives every child a structured, gentle transition into nursery life.

What local parents say
Nothing tells you more about a nursery than the families who are already there.
“My daughter has been attending this nursery since she was eight months old. She is now over three years old, and has experienced their baby, toddler and pre-school rooms. Throughout her time at the nursery, she has been (and continues to remain) very happy. The nursery staff members are outstanding, and this is its key strength for me. They genuinely care about the children, and offer a very nurturing and supportive environment. My daughter has formed strong bonds with both staff members and other children at the nursery.”
“My daughter started going to this nursery just before she turned 2 and she really loved it.She was always happy when I dropped her in the morning. She got quickly attach to the staff. She made enormous progress in her speech in a very short period of time. I also loved their app, they send notification of everything my daughter was doing during the day with pictures and video. The staff are all very professional and friendly. I will greatly recommend this nursery. Your child will be in very good hands.”

Common questions
Getting started
We take settling in at your child's pace, not ours. You are welcome to stay as long as you need during those first visits, and our team will work closely with you to build a picture of your little one's routines, comforts and quirks before they start. Most families find their child settles within a week or two, but we never rush this.
Pack a change of clothes, any comforters they cannot do without, and nappies or pull ups if needed. Everything else, including meals and sun cream, is provided by us. We will send you a checklist before your start date so nothing gets forgotten.
Daily life
Doors open at 7:30am for early arrivals, and the day flows between open ended play, small group activities, outdoor time and rest. Our educators, many of whom have backgrounds in music, art and theatre, weave creative exploration throughout the day rather than sticking to a rigid timetable. Children eat together at mealtimes, and the day winds down gently before collection at 6pm.
Our educators speak to parents at pick up and are always available for longer conversations if you need them. You are also welcome to drop in at any time. We use feedback sheets with our home learning bags so you can see what your child is enjoying and continue the learning at home.
These are bags of carefully chosen resources that children take home to explore with you, based on their current interests at nursery. Each bag includes a feedback sheet so you can tell us how it went, and we use your insights to shape what we plan next. It is one of the ways we keep learning flowing between home and nursery.
